About Us
Mewscraft began over 25 years ago with a specialist product: eyewear display rods. From there, the business grew into supplying furniture for optical practices, before developing our own interior design service, bespoke furniture and, eventually, complete refurbishment projects.
That journey has given us a particularly detailed understanding of the optical industry and the businesses within it. Today, we work with independent opticians, optical groups, eyewear brands and suppliers across the UK, while bringing the same knowledge of display, customer experience and bespoke manufacture to audiology, jewellery, offices and other premium retail environments.
Although Mewscraft has grown, the way we work remains personal. Our showroom in Monmouth gives clients somewhere to sit down with us, talk through ideas, review drawings and materials, and make decisions together.
Conscious design
Good design starts with understanding the business behind the space. We look at who will use it, how the business operates, what the brand represents and how its market is changing.
Our aim is to create environments that not only look considered, but make everyday experiences better for the people working in them, visiting them and using them. Practicality, longevity and the realities of running a business are considered alongside the design itself.
Specialist knowledge
More than 25 years in optical retail has given us an understanding that goes well beyond aesthetics. We know the importance of display, lighting, customer flow, consultation, storage and the small operational details that can make a significant difference to how a space works day to day.
That experience has also allowed us to build a long-established network of trusted trades, manufacturers and specialist suppliers. From bespoke joinery and glass to stone, metalwork and specialist finishes, we can bring the right expertise into a project when it is needed.
Crafted to Last
Mewscraft grew from making and supplying specialist products, so an understanding of how things are actually made has always been part of the business.
Bespoke furniture, displays and interior elements are developed with careful consideration for materials, construction and everyday use. This practical knowledge of manufacture and fit-out means our designs are grounded in what can be delivered well, with quality and longevity considered from the outset.
