Specs Direct Opticians, Barnet

Chris and Natia Violaris presented us with an empty shell situated in a prime location on Barnet’s high street, North London, with and exciting brief of designing a modern and contemporary retail space that reflected their high quality eyecare and premium eyeware brands.

We proposed a mix of different displays for the retail area. We chose the MTE (Mini Tubix) from our range of frame bars to achieve the frame numbers that Chris and Natia were after. The classic rod is great for creating uniformity in your displays whilst offering security with the locking system when required. To break up the space and create some interest, we came up with a simple concept of ‘framing’ the spectacles, by designing surrounds in a gloss finish to house a group of rods. This worked really well as it also differentiated ranges in the practice e.g. women’s, children’s, budget etc. LED spot lights were recessed within the displays for essential, additional illumination. For the colour scheme we chose bright white and grey tones teamed with an injection of bold primary colours, creating a clear, straightforward design with a playful twist that really showed off their spectacle frame ranges.
