Chris Houghton approached us with a comprehensive brief to refurbish his Hoole practice, a large family owned practice in this fashionable part of Chester. Chris had invited a number of Companies to submit proposals, and both design and overall price were important. Having received some submissions, Chris did some thorough research on the Companies involved, visited our showroom, met the team, and also decided to increase the specifications for his practice. He wanted a real WOW factor, with a big emphasis on the best lighting, stunning displays and an efficient workspace. Houghton Opticians is celebrating it’s fifty year anniversary and wanted this new look to commemorate the occasion.
-Open up the space by removing a wall. This involved structural work, with RSJ’s being inserted. Mewscraft engaged a Structural Engineer to assist with this
-To ensure the space was extremely efficient to enhance the work flow and customer flow of the busy practice
-To Incorporate brand colours whilst complementing it with a gold finish.
-To make a real impact in the area by presenting premium frames in a suitable environment, whilst also catering for lower cost frames, children’s frames, sunglasses and so on.
-To ensure Chris was able to use the upstairs of the building and remain open during the refurbishment. This was very necessary as the structural work was quite involved.
The overall result is impressive. The bright, spacious practice looks so smart and modern, but is not intimidating or too clinical. With dedicated dispensing areas, ample frame display (much of it backlit with dimmable LED lights), extensive storage space, and a look which compliments the Houghtons brand, it really is a superb transformation.
